This is the prototype that started it all, a strange amalgam of Medium Density Fiberboard, spray paint and bondo known as the Original World Famous Airport Table. Long gone now, this page is here as a tribute to the first generation. The design itself was truly incomplete, and rather backwards. The center keystone itself had notches in it, instead of notches in the table top, and the legs had to be placed strategically around the hole in the middle until they lined up with the notches in the keystone.

As the second attempt, the pair of side tables in the photo above were definitely an improvement, as the notches now were in the table top, and the keystone had taken on a dramatic shape. Unfortunately, the angle of that shape was a bit too dramatic, and didnt create enough tension to hold it in place. Frankly, they were unstable, but very attractive.
